Interested in busking on one of our transport sites?
Whether you’re a Sam Fender impersonator, or you want to share your musical instrument skills with transport customers in the region, you can apply for a designated spot at a Metro station.
Where can I busk?
You can apply for a busking spot at one of the following Metro stations:
- Central Station
- Monument
- Haymarket
When can I busk?
Busking pitches are divided into two three-hour slots:
- 12:00pm – 3.00pm
- 3:00pm – 6.00pm
Are there any limitations?
You can’t busk on ‘event’ days, for example, rugby and football home games, or large concerts. Consecutive bookings may be considered but are not guaranteed.
You won’t be able to use any amplifiers during your busking sessions.
Who can apply?
Anyone over the age of 16 can apply to busk. A maximum of two people can busk together in a group, and you’ll need to register both members.
How do I apply?
You can complete an Authorised Busker online form. You’ll need photo ID and a passport style photograph.
When will I hear back?
Applications will be processed within seven working days. Once approved, you’ll receive a letter of authority which will be valid for two years, after this time you’ll need to reapply.
How do I book a busking pitch?
One you’re approved as an authorised busker, you’ll need to contact Nexus Customer Relations Team at least 24 hours in advance:

On the day of your busking
Approach a member of the Customer Service Team at the Metro station to let them know you have permission to busk, showing them your authorisation. One of the team will show you to the busking area.
Please bear in mind they can ask you to stop busking and leave the station at any time if there is a safety issue.
