Daren Persson Stadium is the home to North Shields Football Club. The stadium is located at Ralph Gardner Park on West Percy Road, North Shields, NE29 0SS.

Metro travel

The Tyne and Wear Metro is a public light rail rapid transport system which operates over and underground across Tyne and Wear.  There are 60 stations on the network.  Serving Newcastle city centre, Sunderland city centre, Newcastle Airport and the seafronts at North and South Tyneside.

Meadow Well and North Shields stations are the closest to the Daren Persson Stadium.

If you are heading from South Shields or Sunderland, change trains at Monument (board a train from platform 3 towards Meadow Well and North Shields).

If you’re travelling from the Airport you can change trains at South Gosforth (board a St James train from platform 2) or change trains at Monument (board a train from platform 3 towards Meadow Well and North Shields).

Walking routes

From Meadow Well station: About an 8 minute walk.

Turn onto Meadow Well Way (turns left onto Ripley Avenue). Turn right onto Waterville Road then turn left onto Silkey’s Lane. Follow the road and the stadium will be on your right.

From North Shields station: About a 12 minute walk.

Walk onto Railway Terrace (towards Rudyerd Street), continue onto Waterville Terrace. Turn first right onto Coach Lane. Then turn third left onto West Percy Road.

Metro tickets can be purchased on the day of travel from any Metro station. Ticket machines accept both cash and card payments. Metro ticket machines also translate into 6 languages.  If you’re travelling with children, up to three children aged 11 and under can travel free with every fare paying adult.

The cheapest way to travel by Metro is with a POP Pay As You Go card.  You touch in at the start of your journey (on the yellow validator or gateline) and out at the end of your journey and you get charged the cheapest fare for your journey.

Rail travel

Newcastle station and Sunderland station have mainline rail links throughout England and Scotland.  From Newcastle station you can transfer to a Metro train at Central Station.  Metro services stop at Sunderland rail station.

Bus travel

There are also local bus services that stop near to the stadium. Tickets can be purchased direct from bus drivers on the day of travel. Commercial bus operators in Tyne & Wear, Northumberland and County Durham can also be purchased via their own dedicated apps.

National Coach travel

There are two main coach arrival points in central Newcastle:

  • National Express bus station on St James Boulevard
  • Megabus and Flixbus on John Dobson Street

National coach services also serve Sunderland, arriving at Park Lane Interchange located in the city centre.  You can connect to local bus services and to Metro at Sunderland and Newcastle.
