Northumberland Plate Day
Northumberland Plate Day is the highlight of a three-day racing festival at Newcastle Racecourse, attracting thousands of visitors to Gosforth each June. As one of the region’s most popular sporting and social events, it generates a sharp spike in travel demand both before and after racing.
The nearest Metro stations are Regent Centre and Four Lane Ends, two miles from the racecourse. A shuttlebus runs from these stations on selected days of the year, check Newcastle Racecourse’s pre-event emails and social channels for details.
Bus services run from Haymarket Bus station in Newcastle City Centre, including the 43, 44 and 45. They depart every 10-15 minutes and arrive at a stop just outside the Racecourse Road entrance. You can view bus timetables and find the best route from your location using the Journey Planner.
- Allow extra time for your journey, especially for arrival before the first race and departure after the last
