North Pennines Stargazing Festival
Experience the wonders of the night sky at the North Pennines Stargazing Festival, returning for its tenth year. Taking place in one of the darkest areas in the country, the festival offers a unique opportunity to explore the stars, planets and galaxies above the North Pennines National Landscape.
The programme includes a variety of astronomy-themed experiences, from guided stargazing sessions and observatory events to family activities, night walks, astrophotography workshops and special talks led by expert astronomers.
Whether you’re an experienced stargazer or simply looking to discover the beauty of dark skies, there’s something for all ages to enjoy across the festival.

You can enjoy a single bus journey across the region at £2.50 max and day tickets at £7.50 for unlimited travel with the Mayor’s Fares.
